On Wednesday 6 May there will be a unique opportunity to visit institutions and workplaces in the Copenhagen area to see how theory is put to work and learn more about the pedagogical and educational approaches that are used.

Sansefestival (Festival Of the Senses)
Sansefestivalen is an annual event aimed at giving severely physically and mentally disabled people a positive experience as well as giving people working with them inspiration for the daily work they do.
The festival offers all kinds of activities where camp fire, go-kart, power jump, candle light making, tunnel of senses and many more where part of last year’s festival.

TV-Glad
Field visits - videoTV-Glad is a tv and production company which has more than 120 employees, all with development impairments apart from the pedagogical supervisors, the CEO and the administrative staff. The main focus of TV Glad is to provide the developmentally impaired with a medium of their own and thus give them the possibility to exercise their freedom of speech.
Another focus is to establish a workplace where people that often experience they are not welcome on the ordinary job market can hold meaningful jobs and get the social and personal experience and challenge it is for everyone to hold a job and have a role and responsibility to take.
TV Glad also houses educational services where people with development impairments or special social problems can go through educational courses and acquire skills in working in tv production, in the kitchen, with theatre, animation or music.
The visit will be from 9-13 and include a guided tour around the house, a presentation of the organisation and the activities and the pedagogical approach.

Rudersdal Activity and Support Centre (RAS)
Rudersdal Activity and Support Centre is a joint residence and activity centre for mentally impaired and disordered people.
The field visit will be from 9-16 and guests will be invited to observe the monthly joint meeting where all staff members are attendant. The meeting usually begins with a song, accompanied by music played by some of the very good musicians amongst the staff members. After the meeting the guests will get an introduction to how we work with the mentally disabled, followed by an introduction to our work with the mentally disordered.

Camillehusene
Camillehusene is a residence for children and young people, 0-18 yrs, all with multiple disabilities and impairments.
The visit will be from 9-15. It will include a presentation of Camillahusene and the showing of 2 films, one about the children living there and one about the organisation of the house. Then there will be a tour around the 3 houses and to the garden which will give the opportunity to see and feel the different tools and devices used by children as well as staff members.

Pensionatet Mette Marie
Pensionatet Mette Maria is a residence for people with a lifelong addiction they are unable to quit. At Pensionatet Mette Marie they are allowed to stay and live with their addiction in a safe environment. The ground pillars of the staff members throughout their work are support, empathy, respect, dialogue and positive experiences with the residents.

Trekløveret (The Trefoil)

Trekløveret is a permanent residence for handicapped people consisting of 1-bedroom flats including a kitchenette and access to shared space and laundry.
The visit will be from 10-14 and include a guided tour around the premises, a presentation of the organisation and management, insight to the pedagogical approach and vision, public participation, work environment and aspects of working at Trekløveret.

Job and Activity Center, Gentofte
The job and activity centre in Gentofte is a place for adults with mental disabilities and other permanent impairments. We offer a wide range of work and activities including sheltered workshops in production, service and fitting with the focus of finding work for the target group in the regular job market (supported employment). Additionally we run Nextjob which is a project that offers 3 different courses of clarification and skills improvement for people with learning and mental disabilities.
The visit will be from 9-13. It will include an introduction to the organisation and services of the centre as well as a more specified presentation and tour showing the activities taking place.

Residences and Service Centres Følstrup, SAC & Levuk
Følstrup is a residence for physically and mentally disabled adults located in a beautiful landscape overviewing a lake. The pedagogical focus is concentrated around the residents’ individual needs. Some need to develop skills and competences, while others need to maintain the skills they already have and find ways to compensate for what they are unable to do.

SAC (Support and Activity Centre) is a place for citizens with mental impairments and special social problems. SAC offers citizens to either live in individual homes, shared residences or at home. We offer the citizens individual pedagogical support and guidance with the aim of enabling them to make a personal choice and take personal responsibility of their own lives. The Activity Centre/Café Oasen is a refuge that offers the citizens the possibility of meeting other people in the same situation, making friendships and building social networks through cultural and social activities.

Levuk is a leisure club for young handicapped people where the users can meet equals and have active leisure time. Our focus is to strengthen their motorics and body awareness and develop their social skills. Experiences and social relations with other young people is also an important part in order to contribute to the individual development of identity.

Skolen på Kasteslvej (The School on Kastelsvej)
The School on Kastelsvej is founded as a competence centre for children with loss of hearing. The Centre has a school division, an after-school centre and two pupils’ homes and has wide and well-founded knowledge and experience regarding children with Cochlear Implant, hearing impairments and deafness.
The visit will be from 9-13, starting with a visit to the school where guests will get a guided tour around the premises and welcomed by the head master who will tell about the school and the main pedagogical guidelines.
Guests will be offered coffee/tea and Danishes. Around 11.30 we depart from the nearby train station to go a few stops and visit one of the pupils’ homes. Here guests will be shown around the house and social educator Marianne Olsen will tell about the children and the pedagogical guidelines.

Activity Centre Kellersvej
The Activity Centre Kellersvej is a daytime service for people with mental and physical impairments, aged 21 – 92 years old.  The centre offers a wide range pedagogical, developmental and social activities that are suited individually to each person’s functionality and needs. There are 104 daily registered users who, according to skills and abilities, do swimming, horse back riding, look after animals, drawing, muscle relief, massage and excursions to various places.
The centre is divided into 6 different groups, all with their own objective.
The visit will be from 9-13 and will start with a welcome, including coffee/tea, and a short presentation of the centre before a guided tour that will take the guests to 3 different groups and show them the activities here.
A light lunch will be served.

Gentofte Workshop (Gentofte Haandarbejdsvaerksted)
Gentofte Workshop is a sheltered workshop for people with development impairments. The workshop provides work for 36 people in the areas of bookbinding, needlework, weaving, kitchen work, the media workshop and assembling.
The philosophy behind offering sheltered workplaces is that it contributes to more equality, higher self-esteem and better quality of life.
The workshop is beautifully placed in the North of Copenhagen, just 5 minutes away from the waterfront.
The visit will take place from 9-13 and include a guided tour to the different workshops and end with lunch with the employees and staff where there will be the possibility of a Q&A.

Pension Hulegaarden
Pension Hulegaarden is a residence for adults with development impairments. As part of the strategy to contribute to co-decisions, influence and democracy, there as an annual event each year with workshops of different topics all related to life as an adult. Ideas from those workshops are implemented into the continued development of the practised pedagogical work.
Visiting Pension Hulegaarden you will get the opportunity to see how the workshops work as a way to create dialogue between the residents and the staff on critical issues and topics.
The visit will be from 9-14 and include excursion to AIEJI-related activities in the heart for Copenhagen after the visit. If anyone would then be interested in walking by foot to Christiania and the congress party we will be happy to take you there as well.
There will be lunch, tea and coffee.

Gribskov Kommune (Gribskov Borrough)
Gribskov Kommune has planned a field visit that takes the visitors to different work places around the borrough and invites for lunch at the city hall.
10.00 Fabianhus – Fabianhus is a specialised residence service for adults aged 18-45 years with severe and long-lasting mental disorders such as schizophrenia and personality disorder. The aim is to provide social education that will enable the residents to live in more independent co-housing schemes.
11.15 Hestehaven – Hestehaven is a residence of 6 independent flats for people with development impairments that are able to live by themselves with individual help for certain tasks.
12.15 Lunch served at Helsinge City Hall
13.15 Aktivitetshuset (The Activity House) – At Aktivitetshuset there is an exhibition of photos taken by people with development impairments.
14.00 Ahornparken – Ahornparken has 29 residences for people with physical and mental impairments. Coffee/tea and cake will be served.
15.00 Departure to DGI-Byen in busses.

Support and Family Centre for people with hearing impairments
The centre is used by 22 citizens with hearing impairments and 2 families. It serves as a connection and meeting point with both day and night time activities that everyone is free to participate in. The centre provides pedagogical and practical help for citizens living by themselves, financial and economic counselling, support to manage everyday life, support in leisure and travel activities, accompany to official authorities, contact to relatives.
The visit will be 11-14 and include a guided tour around the centre and an insight to the different activities taking place that day.
Coffee and warm buns will be served.

Krisecentret Garvergården (Crisis Centre Garvergaarden)
Krisecentret Garvergården is a temporary residence service that offers support and counselling on how to get on with a day-to-day living for homeless people including young adults, singles, couples, families and single parents.
Citizens using the centre will often be in a state of social crisis having reached a determining changing point in life and feeling loss of control over a given situation and its possible solution.
The visit will be from 9-13 and include a guided tour and a presentation of the work place, how it is structured and the pedagogical methods and theories used. Lunch is included.

Job and Activity Centre South-West (JAC Sydvest)
JAC Sydvest offers employment and occupational and social activities to people with physical or mental impairments. The centre also offers physiotherapy and has a school/workshop for young autistic people.

Activity Centre Ishoej offers occupational and social activities for people with a wide range of physical and mental disabilities.
On Wednesday 6 May there will be a picnic with many different activities making pancakes and baking bread over the open fire.
The visit will be from 9-14 and include lunch and coffee. 8 guests are welcome.

Hesselager Activity Centre and Workshop offers employment and occupational and social activities, for people with physical and mental impairments, which among other things include montage and work places in the Ikea warehouse.
The field visit will include a tour around the centre and an introduction to all the different activities taking place.
The visit will be from 9-13.30 and include lunch and coffee. 8 guests are welcome.

Blindenetvaerket (Network for visually impaired)
Blindenetvaerket offers occupational and social activities for visually impaired and also serves as a residence.
The visit will be from 9-13 and include a tour to the activity centres and residences. We will tell about the pedagogical methods such as active learning, mobility and stimulation of the senses. Tea/coffee and cake will be served. 12 guests are welcome.

Cathrinegaarden
Cathrinegaarden is a residential service for people with development impairments. There are in all 24 residents of which 20 are in some kind of occupational activity 4 days a week.
The pedagogy at Cathrinegaarden focuses on involvement of the residents in order to ensure that they get to decide as much about their own lives as possible. This is regarding the occupational activities they take part in, their leisure time and social activities, their food plan and other central aspects.
The visit will include a guided tour around the premises as well as a presentation of the pedagogical theories and Catherinegaarden as a work place.
The visit will be 9-13 and include coffee/tea, fruit and lunch. 10 guests are welcome.  

Christiania
The party of the congress will be held at Christiania at the venue Den Graa Hal. Den Graa Hal used to be a hangar when the area was owned by the military. Christiania is an independent community placed in the heart of Copenhagen with a beautiful location by the river. On Wednesday 6 May, before the congress party, there will be a guided tour around Christiania which has a lot of interesting and innovative architecture, often photographed for books and magazines, and local shops such as a bakery, a bicycle shop, organic restaurants etc.
